media code of conduct
In addition to the General Code of Behaviour, media representatives involved in any activity held by, or under the auspices of, a Community Cricket Peak Body, Region, or Affiliated Club or Association are expected to meet the following standards of conduct:
- Provide coverage of all players’ cricket activities, including development programs, competitive and non-competitive cricket.
- Be aware of the difference between adult cricket programs and junior cricket programs.
- Place isolated incidents of unsportsmanlike behaviour in proper context, rather than presenting them as the focus or “highlight” of coverage.
- Focus on fair play and the honest effort of players.
- Identify and report on issues affecting players participating in organised cricket, including any violations or concerns relating to player rights.
- Recognise and promote the sporting achievements of players from diverse backgrounds, including girls and women, people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and rural or regional populations.
- Acknowledge and report on the contributions of volunteers, including administrators, coaches, officials and mentors within the game of cricket.
